Legal Aid for Soldiers: Legal Protections Removed – They Need You!
I am Guy Konforti, an attorney and the founder and CEO (volunteer) of the Nadan Association, a position I have held for the past ten years.
I have devoted my life to the well-being and protection of soldiers' rights, alongside my dedicated and talented colleagues and volunteers at the association. Since 2015, without interruption, the Nadan Association has been providing essential legal aid to IDF soldiers on the front lines who are facing bureaucratic and legal challenges.
In March 2025, while the "Iron Swords" war is ongoing, the last legal protection granted to conscripted soldiers was removed.
The state of Israel is effectively expecting them to manage on their own in legal issues, sometimes having to leave active duty to attend legal proceedings, not to mention the stress and dividing their attention.
We encounter cases that shouldn't be:
-
Landlords evicting lone soldiers from their apartments or abusing them in other financial ways.
-
Private employers are violating the basic rights of soldiers who struggle to make a living when they're off base.
-
Indifference from law firms in collection proceedings, claiming that "Israel is always at war."
-
"Hit-or-miss" frivolous lawsuits by insurance companies, banks, and other corporations, pushing them towards waiving their rights.
These young soldiers, who are now called upon to fight for their country, shouldn't have to deal alone as their dignity and rights are trampled.
We will not accept this reality, and therefore, the Nadan Association has fought and will continue to fight for them wherever possible and whenever needed.
The lawyers and volunteers of the Nadan Association provide professional legal aid to soldiers voluntarily, saving each soldier at the very least thousands of shekels in legal and attorney fees with every case. that leads to cases against them being deferred, balanced, and reaching reasonable compromises, which have also resulted in savings of millions of shekels over the years.
we also provide training and preventive education for soldiers regarding rent agreement issues, labor law, legal crisis first aid, so they would have better tools and avoid mistakes. on top of that, we are a leading orginzation, recognized for our expertise with the IDF itself, government branches, the Knesset and are often invited to opine and give our unique point of view.
Beyond our time and devotion, which we contribute with great care and proffesionalism, legal proceedings involve costs that have grown due to the increase in inquiries – technological infrastructure costs, court fees, courier services, print and evidence gathering, expert opinions, travel expenses, insurance for volunteers, etc.
We need your help to continue providing this vital assistance, especially now.
For example, as part of protecting conscripted soldiers, we also want to take proactive action, and sometimes, due to a lack of funding, we are forced to give up or hesitate regarding certain proceedings which could change reality.
What do we ask? If you care, like us, about IDF conscripted soldiers, who are now in an unprecedented difficult period, please donate to us.
A small, regular donation of 10 USD per month (approx 1 NIS per day!) from enough good people will take us far and give us the ability to go all the way, and as far and high as needed.
Please note: We do not have paid employees, and never had. Your donation directly goes into operating our volunteer system and towards conscripted soldiers and the various initiatives we operate on their behalf.
If you don't want or can't donate regularly, a one-time donation, in any amount that suits you, will also be greatly appreciated and will help us continue our important work.
If you are reading this, you agree that this is an important and worthy mission, now and in years to come!
You made it this far and don't want to donate? You are invited to support us in other ways:
-
Tell others about us if you hear they need help. Do you have friends, cousins, or younger siblings who are soldiers? We are there for every conscripted soldier, without an income test, without any distinction between one soldier and another. It's that simple. we made it that way.
-
