Shavit Romero was born in Tel Aviv, the son of a single mother from Colombia. Even though he wasn't Jewish, Shavit considered himself an Israeli like all others, and when he turned 18 he volunteered for the elite Givati Brigade of the Israel Defense Forces, serving as a combat soldier. After Hamas terrorists breached an internationally recognized border on October 7, 2023, murdering more than a thousand Israelis and kidnapping hundreds more, Shavit bravely led his men into batle. On December 21, while fighting Hamas gunmen in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza, Shavit was severely wounded from a sniper's bullet as well as shrapnel in his eyes and throat. Miraculously, he survived, but his injuries left him with significant health challenges that make it hard for him to work, study, or pursue a normal life. Ever the fighter, Shavit is certain he'll eventually overcome his handicaps, but right now he needs our help. So let's give generously and help support this Israeli hero who risked so much while he gets back on his feet.
