You can make a change! Support Black Refugees' Education! I am Kyuma, a refugee from Darfur, Sudan. I am going to be one of the first Sudanese refugee from Israel to study in a Master program in New York City. HELP ME REACH MY GOAL by supporting my campaign. I have been accepted to the International Affairs Master Program at The New School in New York for Fall 2022. ONLY A MONTH AWAY! I wish to study in the International Affairs program in order to find ways to help my family and other refugees in the future. In fact, my family still lives in the refugee camp in Darfur. Therefore, I am asking for your help, to show the world that black refugees' lives also matter. Your help can make a change not only in my life, but also in the lives of other refugees that do not get the opportunity to develop their career because of bad life-circumstances. Please open the campaign page to read more about my story... Let's start the change TOGETHER! #support_equality_in_education #together_we_can_make_a_change

I am very excited to have this unique opportunity to be one of the first Sudanese refugee from Israel to pursue my Master degree at The New School in NYC. By donating, you will help me reach the amount of money for a year of studies.

My story:

My name is Kyuma Sadam Abdallah Gumaa, a 28 years old refugee survivor of genocide, war crime, ethnic cleansing and gross violation of human rights in Darfur, Sudan. My village was shelled out by the government troops in 2003 while militias looted properties killing people and burning importable and unwanted assets to the ground. In that attack, the number of human casualties were estimated to be more than 200 including my grandparents and uncle. In that same attack, I was kidnaped as a child by the Arab-militia and forced to fight as a Child Soldier against my own people in Darfur. After one year I was able to run away and reunite with my family. We managed to escape to a nearby city called Ambrekena. Later on, Ambrekena was also attacked and so we escaped to Utash refugee camp in south Darfur.

I came to Israel in 2011 as an asylum seeker hoping to rebuild my life. Sadly, Israel prevented the Sudanese refugees from attaining basic human rights until recently, when most of us got temporary citizenship.

In 2019 I got a full scholarship for the Undergraduate program at the Reichman University, Department of Sammy Ofer School of Communications. I received a financial support from the university and the African Students Organization (ASO).

NOW, I have been accepted to the Master of Science degree in International Affairs at The New School in New York City for Fall 2022. I was granted a scholarship of 30% of the total tuition which I am deeply grateful for. However, due to the current circumstances, I need your help to reach the 100% tuition and fulfil my dream of studying in the USA. As my family still lives in the refugee camp in Darfur, I have to continue my part-time job and support them. My parents are old and do not receive all their basic needs from the humanitarian organizations.

I am very excited to come to New York to pursue my goals by studying and developing in my field on international affairs. Therefore, I would be grateful if you would consider my exceptional condition and support my dream.

I have always dreamed of a better life in America. With its world-class education system, America is the best place for me to pursue my master’s degree. The experience interacting with diverse students in a western environment will give me a crucial edge in my career. I will start the academic year on August 29, 2022. By studying at the International Affairs program at The New School, I hope to acquire the needed skills to find ways to help my people in the future. My country is struggling with safety, social justice, conflict and security.

Let’s start this change TOGETHER and #support_equality for African refugees. All human being are equal and we all deserve to have the opportunity for education.
