Temple Beth Israel’s commitment to tikkun olam and meaningful social action has always been at the heart of our community. This summer, we invite you to join us in supporting one of Israel’s most impactful humanitarian organizations: Leket Israel, the National Food Bank of Israel.

Together, we are raising funds to help rescue and distribute the equivalent of 22 supermarket carts of fresh produce for approximately 180 struggling Israeli families. This nutritious food fruits and vegetables that would otherwise end up in landfills will instead reach families of all backgrounds, seniors, Holocaust survivors, and others facing food insecurity across Israel.

At a time when so many Israelis are struggling economically, food rescue is a powerful expression of Jewish values: reducing waste, feeding the hungry, and caring for one another with dignity and compassion.

As part of this effort, we are excited to host a special Shabbat dinner on Friday, August 7th, featuring guest speaker Mark Ettinger, board member of American Friends of Leket Israel and founder of the Food Rescue Institute. Mark will share insights into the transformative impact of food rescue efforts in Israel and around the world, and how communities like ours can make a tangible difference.

We hope you will join Temple Beth Israel in turning surplus into sustenance and compassion into action.

Every donation helps rescue more fresh produce and bring hope to Israeli families in need.
