The Docaviv Festival has become a cultural, influential, and leading institution over the years. The festival is considered one of the world's most successful and many of the best creators want to screen their works there. Consequently, we have been able to present you with world-class documentary films.
About 100 films were screened at the last festival.
During the festival, tens of thousands of people attended our screenings, and about half a million more visited our website. Additionally, we hosted dozens of premieres of Israeli films, and numerous meetings with artists and creators from Israel and abroad.
The American Film Academy (the Oscars) has selected DocAviv as one of the leading festivals whose winners are automatically nominated for an Academy Award. The festival's winners have been eligible, since 2018, to submit their nominations for the documentary category.
A particular highlight of the Docaviv association is its annual festivals in the geographical and social periphery of Israel: "Docaviv Galil" in Ma'alot Tarshiha, "Docaviv Negev" in Yeruham, as well as screenings of dozens of documentaries at cultural centers throughout Israel.
The "Doco Young" project is also held every year - workshops for young people in boarding schools and activities that engage the next generation in documentary work in mixed populations.
