THE CHILDREN AND FAMILIES  NEED YOU

As the war continues to engulf our people, and more parents are called up to serve in the army or reserves, Israel is experiencing a devastatingly growing number of young widows and orphans. These mothers, along with the increasing number of unemployed and dislocated families across Israel are finding it nearly impossible to pay for their children’s care, making them, and their infant children, even more vulnerable and at risk.

Quality, affordable Child Care is fundamental to the long-term stability of families and society by ensuring that parents are able to work, serve in the army or, pursue their education to enter the workforce. The government currently offers subsidized and/or free daycare to low-income children, aged 3-5 years old. However, infants, from newborn to three years of age must pay for day care services.  Currently, it costs nearly 23,100 Shekels (about $6,300) on average for the parent(s) to pay, which is impossible for the unemployed, under-employed, or low income, immigrant, refugee and/or single parent families EMUNAH serves

From its earliest days of serving the people of Israel, EMUNAH has been a catalyst for ensuring that all families were able to access quality, affordable childcare for their children. EMUNAH has worked with the Ministries of Education and Family Welfare Services to develop and maintain one of the largest networks of Child Care Centers in Israel. Currently, there are over 110 centers serving approximately 7,000 children and their families across the country. Among these daycare centers is a group of special centers which address the unique needs of at-risk children and families known as: The EMUNAH Family Intervention and Child Care Program (often translated from the Hebrew name to be: EMUNAH Multipurpose Centers). These specialty Centers provide extended support services and resources to strengthen the core family unit.
