The Lone Soldier Center currently has seven residential facilities located in the Greater Jerusalem and Greater Tel Aviv areas that have a capacity of 160 beds. These facilities are so popular that we now have a waiting list for all of them. And we need help in expanding our capacity. For this coming year our focus is on expanding our capacity with a dedicated facility for religious female lone soldiers. These young women need a facility where strict religious observance of the laws of kashrut and shabbat can be upheld. Moreover, where they are not in the same physical facility with male lone soldiers.

At the moment we have one small facility for 5-6 religious female lone soldiers, but we urgently need to expand capacity. Once we have the funding in place we will look for a facility that can house 15-20 female lone soldiers in the Greater Jerusalem area. To do this we must raise approximately $200,000 USD to cover the needed leasehold improvements, furniture, repairs, kitchen kashering and rent subsidies for the first year of operation.

Our housing facilities are popular because we understand the needs of the lone soldiers and we find affordable facilities in locations most deisred by them. Typically we find a facility and sign a long term lease. We then sublet rooms to the lone soldiers. They either have a room to themselves, with their own key, or may share with a roommate. They do not need to worry about utilities, repairs, common area cleaning, dealing with bad landlords or signing a one year lease. Each soldier pays us a monthly stipend of about $400 USD, an allotment they receive from the IDF, and through the generosity of our donors we make up the difference in costs. They not only have a safe, comfortable home to return to when they get leave from the IDF, but they come "home" to a place where they will have home cooked kosher meals for shabbat (courtesy of our generous community volunteers) and built in friends and companions.

This year our focus is building out a larger facility for religious girls. In the future we will be looking forward to building a facility for religious men and then a facility for girls in the Tel Aviv Greater Area. Until we raise the needed $200,000 USD we will delay the build out of the facility.

HELP US PROVIDE A HOME AWAY FROM HOME FOR OUR RELIGIOUS FEMALE LONE SOLDIERS!!

*Donations raised beyond the actual initial cost of the facility will be applied to offset the rent subsidies in subsequent years to come for our lone soldiers and possibly other operations of the LSC.
