Hello Dear Friends,
Israel is undergoing one of the worst wars since its foundation. The Bustan Bamidbar In The Desert School, located in the Nitzana Desert, just 40KM from the Gaza border.
I, Ofra Natan, school principal, our dedicated staff and community members are seeking urgent help for our school. Bustan In The Desert has been open for 6 years, from grades 1 through 8, whose doors are open to students and staff from every facet of Israeli society - Jewish, Muslim, Bedouin, etc. It is our belief that the strength and resilience of our school's society is derived from diversity and unity. This resilience has enabled our school to withstand the ups and downs of the Israeli economy, Covid, and temporary regional conflicts.
However, the recent terror attack has proved more than our school could handle. Due to our proximity to the war zone of Gaza, many of our students have family members affected by the conflict. Also, staff and many of the parents were either called to reserve duty or are staying home while their partners are on the front lines.
In these trying times, Israel’s resources have been focused on security and humanitarian aid, therefore we are calling for your help. We have been in need, now more than ever, of maintenance for our school. We face new issues such as the upgrading of safe-room facilities and infrastructure renovations that are urgently needed. In addition, we are currently caring for families and children displaced and evacuated from the conflict zones to the area of Nitzana. We are also hosting elementary students from other schools in the Ramat Negev regional council and Eritrean refugees who have been evacuated from ashkelon due to the current war. All of which require further funding.
We need you at our side more than ever to achieve our goal of raising $150,000.00 USD to offset the massive expenses we face. All contributions are accepted as a blessing to our growing community and the continuation of strong educational values for our children.
Thank you for your big heart and great generosity.
Sincerely,
Ofra Natan
Bustan School Principal
