For my Bar Mitzvah project, I decided to raise money for the IDF’s Lone Soldier Center. For those of you who don’t know what a lone soldier is, I will explain. A Lone Soldier is a person who leaves their home country to serve as a member of the IDF. Since they don’t have immediate family living in Israel, they have nowhere to go when they are not on duty, during holidays, or when they just need a friendly place to call home. The Lone Soldier Center helps these individuals by providing a supportive environment, Shabbat dinners, health services, and a feeling of belonging. It is because of centers like this that a lone soldier can have a successful experience while serving in the IDF. The job they are doing protecting Israel is an honorable one. As a way to say thanks and support this important work, I will be raising money to help the Lone Soldier Center provide these services.
