Most people are shocked to discover that Israel has a legal hunting season.

Tens of thousands of animals in Israel are cruelly murdered each year because of this. These species are mentioned in the Torah. They are part of our Jewish heritage.

It’s time to STOP this. Please donate now by clicking the link at the top of the page and join the FIGHT to ban hunting in Israel of our beautiful, biblical species.

Each year starting in September for 4 months it’s perfectly legal to kill 60,000 quail, 100,000 doves and 350,000 ducks. Despite it being illegal every year 100’s of endangered Israeli gazelles and porcupines are killed too as the punishments are so pathetic to deter hunters.

If nothing is done now, some of these biblical species such as the Israeli gazelle, deeply connected to the Land of Israel, won’t be around for our children and grandchildren to see outside a zoo or a textbook.

To stop hunting the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel needs to raise 317,000 NIS ($92,500) by July 31st. It may seem like a lot but with your help, I know that we can achieve our goal and make sure that hunting season is history.

As the world has recently discovered hunting, trading and consuming wild animals has severe health implications.

It’s worrying to discover that wet markets, one of the suspected sources of Coronavirus, operate in Israel too. Much of the meat is supplied by hunting. An endangered gazelle can be purchased for about 1,500 NIS.

For the sake of our health we your help to stop hunting now

The only way to truly protect these animals is to change the law written in 1955, ban hunting and increase fines for those who continue to hunt illegally.

Standing in our way is Israel’s tiny group of hunters with a large political influence. The only way to defeat them is by building a large, noisy public campaign and amplify our voices to show that the public want hunting banned.

We can’t do it without you, so please donate now.

Once we have collected the funds we need we can start the process of changing the law.

• The first step is to use traditional and social media to reach out to all the people like us who want hunting banned and ask them to send letters to politicians demanding that hunting is banned.

• Then we can start to talk with decision makers in the Nature and Park Authority and other ministries and tell them that their voting public is demanding an end to hunting

• Then we can begin to recruit MK’s to sponsor legislation as the people are demanding change

• Then we need the Chairman of the committee for internal affairs and the environment

• And only then will the new law go to a vote, and it will only pass if there’s a big enough public voice to make sure this issue isn’t ignored.

We need your help to reach out to other people like you and me who are sickened that in Israel in 2020 we still allow this cruel sport, but don’t know about it.

We have calculated that to change the law in the current Knesset session we need to raise 317,000 NIS before July 31st so we can quickly start the process of changing the law.

Only with your support, and together with other people like you who care enough to do something now will we be able to harness a voice so big and loud that it can’t be ignored.

So please donate now by clicking the button at the top of this page and join the fight to ban hunting in Israel.

Once you’ve donated, you’ll become an official part of the movement to ban hunting, protecting thousands of quails, doves, ducks, gazelles and porcupines.

I’ll keep you up to date with how we’re progressing and I’ll make sure your name is one of the first on the petition once we’re ready to start the public phase of this campaign.

We’re delighted to announce that the Israeli publishers of National Geographic Magazine have joined the campaign to ban hunting in Israel.

For the rest of this month, every donation made to ban hunting in Israel will be eligible to receive a free copy of National Geographic.

Thank you

Iris Hann

CEO, Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel

PS. I hope you’ll be able to help me end this barbaric ‘sport’ of hunting which kills tens of thousands of animals a year in Israel. Your donation is the first step on this important journey.
