Humanist co il is an independent online magazine that deals with news, politics, culture, philosophy, and science from the liberal secular humanist perspective. The magazine will cover broad range of topics of public interest, and its aim is to support the build up of community cohesion of secular humanists in Israel. We see ourselves as part of the international secular humanist movement, and we strive to promote the humanist world view and values. As liberal secular humanism is committed to the freedom of speech, we welcome different voices and opinions, as long as the boundaries of mutual respect are kept. Nevertheless, we do not have intention of being a platform for publishing religious, or any other metaphysical, non-rational world views, as there are already plethora of platforms for those views in the media.
In these times, when religious fundamentalism is on the rise in Israel, Humanist will strive to be a beacon of rational and enlightened thought. Our aspiration is to engage our readers in activity for the development of our community. We believe that the creation of this magazine and the community of our readers is a starting point for the creation of a thriving secular humanist community.
Along the maintenance of the site as an online magazine and hub for secular humanists, we initiate public events for the humanist community. Those events will be an opportunity to meet in person, hold lectures and panel discussions on topics of interest.
