"Live in the moment, live your life as if there was no tomorrow"
Two weeks after his 27th birthday, in one damn moment, in the evening hours of Thursday December 13th, the life of our beloved Dori was taken away much too soon. Dori was killed in a terrible car accident, the responsible party was a bus driver who crossed the Ramot intersection in Beer Sheva at a red light, and he was killed instantly.
In the beginning of 2017 Dori posted a short movie and wrote:
Not exactly 72 countries, but I agree with every word.
During his life Dori use to travel a lot. He visited every corner in Israel and also a lot of other countries, New Zeeland, Australia, Georgia, Philippines, Cuba, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Nepal, India, USA, England and many more.
Dori tried to live his life to the full extant.
Its important to understand that the way he led his life was a direct outcome of the way he was brought up. Wherever he was he left a mark, at home, in the Israeli scout movement, volunteering for young people and during his army service. He saw no difference in race, color or religion, he gave everything he could to whoever he met. The giving was the essence of his character.
It is so very hard to talk about Dori in the past tense…Dori was an amazing son, a wonderful bother to Eilon and Hadas, grandson, nephew, a thoughtful and loving partner to Tamar and a good and always giving friend to all around him. His smile can be seen everywhere, always sensitive to his surroundings, this is what was so special about Dori.
The Message that Dori tried to pass on with the short movie was important to each and everyone of us:
“Think what you would do if you were to die tomorrow? Do it all every day as if there was no tomorrow, travel alone-that way you will meet people, always be the first to initiate a conversation and don’t go with the stream .Trust the way you have pawed your way for yourself, or like Steve Jobs said:” You can’t connect the landmarks if you look forward, you can only do that if you look at them after the deed, and then connect all the points you’ve specified to pave your way, while relying on your gut feeling, as well as your fate and karma. Come out of assuming you are the greatest creator of your life, and you will always have full control of the mission and the go.”
The news about Dori’s passing, caught us by surprise, none of us were ready for such devastating news. It is hard to describe the sense of loss, that we all felt. It is out of this feeling of loss that we want to commemorate Dori, the person he was, who he loved and what he’s done.
While looking back on all the landmarks he made during his lifetime, we want to connect them all by building a lookout in Katzir, the small town where he grew up, and for this we need your help.
Our aspiration is not only a sign or a place with his name (the place will be called "Dor’s lookout"), we want to build a place where people can walk around and take some rest and look at the amazing view, and this way they can feel what Dori always said, “Live in the moment”.
Next to the lookout we will build a place that will be designated to “Shevet Alomot” which is the scout movement Dori belonged to and was a big part of his life. Here they will be able to have lots of activities and also learn about Dori who was one of the establishers, this will help to give the younger generation moral and social values.
In order to remember Dori and what he stood for, what he loved and what was important to him, we need 180.000 shekels, and this is where you come into the picture.
