During 2015, a group of parents from Hanaton, Kiryat Tivon and other communities in the Emek Yizrael and Zvulun Regional Councils, gathered together to set up an educational framework that would provide their children with Jewish education that accepts all the different forms of Judaism and Jewish life styles, religious and nonreligious. That is how the idea of establishing an inclusive school, supported by the Meitarim network (https://www.meitarim.org/en/home), came up. A school in which religious and nonreligious children would be brought up and educated to live together in mutual respect, brotherhood and friendship.
With time, more families joined, and the group became a community, which now starts its third year - the 'Meitarim-Tivon' School community.
The ‘Meitarim-Tivon’ School commemorates the late Staff Sergeant Avi Ofner z”l, who was killed on duty in 1997. His parents, Raya and Yossi Ofner, live in Tivon and perpetuate his memory with many projects that aim to bring unity to Israeli society (http://www.avi-beshvil-israel.org.il/en.php), and among these, support ‘Meitarim-Tivon’ school.
The school is located in another school’s old compound, which requires major renovations of the building, equipment and facilities.
We ask for your support, in order to help us maintain this reality of true connection between diverse and varied populations in Israeli society. Help us raise a future generation that is more tolerant, more connected to its Jewish heritage and respects others.
