What does a truly holistic, idealistic Torah-based school look like?

Mayim Chayim is a unique educational project developed by parents and educators seeking an alternative to the often stuffy religious education. They dreamed of a holistic, liberating, process-oriented and experiential school – a program that puts the children, surrounding them with a nurturing multidisciplinary curriculum and program. 

In 2016, the dream became a reality.

In a world where virtual reality replaces many real-life interactions, a small island was established where children's curiosity is nourished by experience, joy, excitement, freedom, connection to nature and creativity. Both Judaic and secular studies are conducted holistically, incorporating music, art, movement, story, and play, as well as connection to earth through gardening, hiking, building and environmental studies. The ultimate goal is to engage and empower the entire child, develop tools for future growth, and facilitate an authentic, wholesome connection to the Creator and to the world.

Our approach quickly caught on. Parents and supporters related to the idea of a small, experiential, natural, creative, down-to-earth religious school. Today, there are over 100 boys and girls enrolled for the current school year. The school is a hub and a home for parents and staff to grow and flourish through structured teacher training and parental guidance programs, as well as informal interactions. Mayim Chayim also became the focal point for a community that evolved into a movement of people from diverse backgrounds seeking to develop and promote a more holistic, idealistic religious educational model – and as a community we have embraced our leadership role in this movement and the responsibility it entails.

Currently, we have two primary goals:

1. Strengthen the Mayim Chayim school, and continue to deepen our wonderful educational model.

2. Develop and distribute courses for educational professionals so that more children around the world can benefit from our system.
