The Israeli team for the IOL 2024
The International Linguistics Olympiad (IOL), held annually since 2003, will take place this July in Brasília, Brazil.
Over 50 teams from around the world are already participating in the IOL, and last year we made Israel a part of this amazing event. In 2024, Israel will be represented by a team of four high school students who are really good at solving linguistic problems.
Our team is:
- Lev Ianushevich, 11-th grade student at ORT Psagot living in Karmiel, last year IOL participant.
- Roman Roginsky, 11-th grade student at Shimon Peres High Tech and ARt High School (AKA Shevach Moffet) living in Holon, last year participant.
- Olya Besova, 10-th grade student at Ironi Gimel living in Haifa, EGMO (European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad) medalist.
- Martha Vogman, 10-th grade student at Boyer school living in Jerusalem.
They passed the selection test to represent Israel in the Olympiad. Remarkably, all four participants are new immigrants to Israel (olim hadashim).
Prior to the event, the team will be training at the Summer Linguistics School in Estonia.
We are reaching out for your support to help cover the registration fee for training in Estonia and travel expenses for both events, as well as team T-Shirts with official symbols representing Israel.
Thanks to your generous support last year, we were able to pay this year's registration fees for the IOL in Brazil. This time, we're also planning ahead and including the fees for next year's team, who will compete in 2025 in Taiwan.
