Hello everyone,
Family, friends, acquaintances and anyone in between.
We are appealing to you in the hope you will help us on our journey to become parents.
To those of you who already know and to those who are just discovering it, we began our journey to become dads about two years ago in the U.S.
For those of you who know us more and those who know us less - who are we?
We are two kibutzniks who met 13 years ago, wandered the world, and recently decided to put down roots in the magical Jordan Valley, in kibbutz Ein Gev on the shores of the Sea of Galilee- the Kinneret and the landscapes where we grew up.
I’m Gabo (Gabriel, 45), an English teacher and homeroom teacher at Beit Yerach High School, which we both attended. I love teaching and find great fulfillment and view it as a mission. In my free time I’m also a writer and have published one novel (Samsona’s Cemetery, Pardes, 2022).
I’m Ron (42). For over two decades I have been working with teens and Young adults in Israel and around the world (U.S.A. and Australia). Today I manage the center for informal education at the regional council where we grew up and where we live today - The Jordan Valley Regional Council.
Rick, Yordis, and Anjel, our three cats, give us lessons in parentins, patience, and help keep us young. They can’t wait anymore to become older siblings to the baby who’s on her way.
We are very excited about the arrival of our baby girl, who we will raise in the kibbutz environment in which we grew up, on the same values, sceneries and traditions, and shower her with endless love.
We long to hear her say the word “dad” (daddy is fine too) and to know we are starting our own little family here in Israel.
Why are we doing this in the U.S.A. and not in Israel?
It was obvious for us that we would want to go through this journey with the best clinic and agency, with the most medical experience and professionalism in the field of surrogacy, with total transparency, even if it means the cost will be high.
The U.S.A. is one of a few countries that allows surrogacy for same sex couples and is a leader in this field.
When we began our journey, the High Court in Israel had yet to force the state to allow surrogacy for same sex couples in Israel. Even now, in Israel, after the historic ruling, these processes involve uncertainty, long waiting periods and high costs which are not that different from the process we are undergoing.
Why crowdfunding?
The costs of surrogacy in the U.S. are over $160K USD.
The process is completely transparent and allows us to be in continuous and personal connection with Ashley, our daughter’s surrogate.
These costs include medical exams and without coverage and help from our Israeli health insurance fund, creation of embryos, in vitro fertilization, lawyers, flight to the USA, our extended stay during the birth in the USA, close escort of our surrogate, Ashley and her family, citizenship processes in Israel and more.
Our economic reality does not allow us to do it alone and that is why we are turning to you.
Our parents helped and are helping us in what they can, we took loans from the bank, and still the amount we have accumulated so far is not enough for the whole process. That\\\\\\\\'s why we are turning to you for help.
This is a really difficult situation for both of us, having to ask for money from others. In order to fulfill the dream of starting a family, we set up the crowdfunding campaign, and we hope that thanks to you we will be able to fulfill our dream of becoming parents.
We promise to educate our daughter in the best way possible and tell her about all the good people who helped us on our journey to becoming her dads. If you\\\\\\\\'re patient, you might even get a thank you drawing from her one day :)
We believe that parenthood is a right and we would be grateful for your help.
You can donate any amount you want here on the site
Donated already? We greatly appreciate it!
Thank you!
Gabo and Ron
