Hi, I'm Bira.

I’ve been in the book business for quite a few years now, and I’m finally setting out on an independent journey to fulfill a lifelong dream: opening a bookstore of my own. It already has a name—Antarctica.

Antarctica will be a second-hand bookstore and a cultural hub ,specialized on poetry and children’s books. The space will feature cozy seating areas, a dedicated section for new titles from independent and local publishers, and a modular space designed for intimate gatherings and events.

In addition, Antarctica will publish its own magazine, serving as a platform to amplify and strengthen the rich cultural scene in Haifa. Each issue will showcase the work of local artists and writers, alongside columns covering a wide range of fields.

My vision is to create a physical space where people can discover the diverse community of creators who make our city’s culture so vibrant and multi-faceted. It will be a place for voices that don’t always find a stage—connecting them with the wider public, both locals and visitors from around the world.

I have the experience and the passion needed to make this shop thrive for years to come. The only thing missing is financial backing, especially during these challenging times. To navigate the first year—which can be so precarious for small businesses—I need initial capital to cover setup costs and provide a safety net for the journey ahead.
