I would like to request your support in helping a very worthy family — an IDF combat NCO (noncommissioned officer) and his wife and four children -- that has fallen on hard times. Yitzhak is a master sergeant in the IDF and has been serving in combat units for over 14 years. Yitzhak works full time as a combat technical mechanic in a long range reconnaissance patrol unit while also raising four kids. Yitzhak sadly became burdened with the debts of his father, a wounded IDF combat veteran, with a carpentry business. When Yitzhak’s father passed away from severe diabetes and cancer, the business carried debts of 1.3 million shekel (about $352,000). While the business did not belong to Yitzhak, it was registered in his name and he became obligated to satisfy the outstanding debt. He tried to declare bankruptcy with respect to his father's debts but the court ordered him to pay all debts within 30 days. He used all his savings and took out a loan of 380,000 shekel (about $103,000) to pay as the court ordered. The family is now burdened with a monthly payment of 6,800 shekel (about $1,850) and simply cannot make ends meet. The banks have closed all lines of credit and they cannot afford the basic stuff needed to raise their family. This family has given everything to the country and its protection. I am asking you to see if you can help them extinguish that debt, get back on their own feet and regain their dignity.
To facilitate this, I have set up a Israel gives page. Please see it in your heart to contribute. Please also pass this along to five or more of your friends who might be inclined to help. I am convinced that easing this burden will go a long way in lifting this family up and putting it back on track. Thanks.
