Thanksgiving is one of the few holidays that all Americans, of all religions and religious levels, come together as a family to enjoy a traditional meal of turkey, pie, and mashed potatoes.
That is why the Lone Soldier Center every year is happy to host our annual Thanksgiving Meal for pre-draft, current, and post service Lone Soldiers from countries around the world. For Lone Soldiers serving across the ocean, far away from their families and Thanksgiving dinner tables, this event provides a well deserved taste of home and family.
Covid-19 provides a unique challenge, in that we can not host a large event for all of our soldiers together. Unique challenges call for unique solutions! This year, we will be creating capsules of Lone Soldiers across the country who will come together on Thanksgiving. The staff and volunteers at the LSC will then be delivering full Thanksgiving Dinner kits, complete with food, games, decorations, and more to each of these groups so that no one will be left without this important taste of home!
Around the world, this is an American holiday. In Israel, this is an LSC tradition.
