The Mitzvah of Kapparot: A way to perform the mitzvah of kapparot is by contributing to charity on Yom Kippur eve, and many follow this custom, or to carry out the ritual of kapparot through the Internet. The most suitable time for the mitzvah of kapparot is the early morning hours of Yom Kippur eve. There is no agreement on the exact time; in general, this means before sunrise. According to kabalah this is the time when mercy predominates. Even though the most preferred time is on Yom Kippur eve, the Ten days of repentance (the Ten Days between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur) are also suitable for performing the kapparot ritual.
About the Project: Chimes Israel's Shaked Earl Childhood Center has been operating in the city of Ashkelon for the past 15 years. The center provides care for preschool children with disabilities and their families. The center has three classrooms in two different buildings, and provides a solution for about 40 children diagnosed with developmental delays, genetic syndromes or complex medical conditions. There is a designated class for children on the autistic spectrum.
Each class has an educational staff that includes a teacher and assistants, as well as a therapeutic staff from a variety of health professions. Alongside them are social workers and a nurse. The children receive a full array of treatments they need. Each child has a personal rehabilitation program, containing the plan to reach their achievement goals and the prescribed activities to be practiced at the center and home.
We are mobilizing support for the opening of a new classroom at the center to reduce the number of children in each classroom. This will allow each child to get the attention they need to grow and reach their potential. We will also use the donations to upgrade the center's rehabilitation equipment. The smaller the classrooms with newer rehabilitation equipment will put the children in the best possible situation to reach their maximize rehabilitative and development potential.
Any amount can help!
