The Jaffa Institute was established in 1982 as a private, non-profit, multi-service social agency to assist disadvantaged children and their families from the impoverished communities of Jaffa, South Tel Aviv, Bat Yam, Yehud, and Bet Shemesh in Israel.
Our mission is to provide these children and their families with educational, nutritional, therapeutic, and social enrichment programs.
Our main goal is to provide children from impoverished families with educational and social welfare programs, so that they can break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.
Holistic in its approach and responsive to the diverse needs of those we serve, the Jaffa Institute operates over 35 different programs, including crisis residences for at-risk youth, educational enrichment centers, food security initiatives, support to elderly individuals and Holocaust survivors, and women’s empowerment programs. We are very proud that in our 36th year, with the support of approximately 6,500 dedicated volunteers, the Jaffa Institute provides services and relief to over 4,500 individuals. In 2001, the Institute was awarded the President’s Prize for the Most Outstanding Voluntary Organization.
We have had many wonderful accomplishments over the years but probably the most significant is the fact that over 10,000 children have now graduated and have established themselves as good citizens serving their country and raising families of their own.
Run with the Jaffa Institute to create a community in which children are nourished, educated and supported, so that they become strong contributors to Israeli society.
