Who We Are

Revital’s Hamal – A Touch from Home – is a grassroots civilian-community initiative established immediately after October 7, 2023.

Out of a simple human response to pain and crisis, one small act took place — bringing food to soldiers.

Within days, that small act became an outpouring of giving, connection, and social solidarity.

What began in a small apartment living room in Tel Aviv grew into a broad civic movement connecting thousands of volunteers from across Israeli society, alongside Jewish communities around the world.

To date, more than 700 activities have taken place, and the Hamal has become a living space of action, meaning, and connection — between people, communities, and soldiers.

Revital’s Hamal is not only a food support initiative.
It is an expression of the power of initiative — showing how a community can mobilize, connect, and act together in times of crisis.

What We Need and What It Buys

Our work focuses on preparing and delivering different kinds of food and care packages directly to soldiers in the field — knowing that food is only part of the story, and that the deeper meaning is the feeling that someone is thinking about them.

Thanks to our unique model, most of our activity is based on donated products, which means every financial donation creates especially broad impact.

Here is what that impact looks like in practice:

• $7 → one Shabbat meal for a soldier

• $6 → one schnitzel challah sandwich

• $2 → one energy pack

• $80 → one Box of Joy for 20 soldiers

Every donation — small or large — becomes something much greater than food.

Our Impact So Far

Since the beginning of this journey, the Hamal has provided:

• 181,000 hot Shabbat meals

• 62,000 schnitzel challah sandwiches

• 57,000 energy packs

• 6,600 hamburger and BBQ meals

• 13,800 Boxes of Love and Joy

• 16,000 holiday packages

All of these were delivered directly to soldiers in operational areas.

But beyond the numbers, the impact goes much deeper:
it is the connection between the home front and the front line.

Stories from the Field

A reserve commander shared that on his first night in Gaza, he found a chocolate bar inside one of the packages, with a sticker and a note from a child.

That night, as he lay on the ground exhausted, he held the chocolate and thought:
“If people from all over Israel and the world managed to send me this note from a child, together with my favorite chocolate, all the way here — then I am not alone. Everything will be okay.”

Another soldier came especially to say thank you.
He shared that in a particularly difficult moment, he pulled a small energy bag from his pocket with the Hamal sticker on it that said:

Our hearts are with you

And in that moment, something shifted.
He felt strength. Connection. Home.

What the Need Is Right Now

A touch from home — now more than ever.

The war continues.
Many soldiers have been in the field for many long months, and many are returning again and again for additional rounds of service.

The exhaustion is growing, and the need for encouragement, connection, and a sense of home is only becoming deeper.

Every month, we want to continue preparing and bringing to our soldiers in the field:

• approximately 550 Shabbat meals

• approximately 1,400 schnitzel challah sandwiches

• approximately 3,200 energy packs

• one hot field meal for approximately 400 soldiers

• approximately 160 Boxes of Joy

To maintain this continuity, we hope to raise a three-month operating budget.

This is not only support for food.
It is morale support.
It is support for resilience.
And it is our way of reminding our soldiers, every single day, that they have a home, they have a people, and we are with them.
