Please check our update and thank you to everyone for all of your support thus far!
Along with the rest of the world we, at the Lone Soldiers Center in Memory of Michael Levin, are also dealing with the Coronavirus and its implications for our soldiers' daily lives.
At present, there are 2,200 soldiers in quarantine in Israel, of whom several dozen are Lone Soldiers. Some of whom live in our housing projects. Thankfully, as of writing this, no Lone Soldiers are known to have contracted the virus.
About a week ago, the IDF issued an order which forbade all soldiers from leaving the country and canceled any leaves already granted. Many Lone Soldiers who were supposed to go on special family visits abroad had to cancel their plans. We, of course, are making every effort to support them here during their many visits to the Jerusalem and Tel Aviv Centers.
In addition, we are making sure to update our soldiers with current information about the virus, and with all Ministry of Health and IDF instructions. This information helps us all understand how to protect ourselves against contracting the virus, as well as how to deal with this new and unfamiliar situation.
The biggest challenge of all that we are currently facing, is helping the soldiers already in quarantine. Our wonderful staff, Bnot Sherut, and volunteers have taken it upon themselves to call these soldiers daily to make sure they have everything they need in terms of food and equipment and to arrange delivery to them when possible. We have also opened a number of Whatsapp groups to ease the difficulty of a long stay in quarantine - they must know and feel that they are not alone!
What can you do?
Please, help us help them!
We have entered uncharted territory and I call on everyone for whom the welfare of our Lone Soldiers is close to their hearts to support us in our mission and help us work for the good of the Lone Soldiers in the IDF.
We have created a dedicated campaign to support the financial undertaking that is required to offset the cost of this endeavor. Any contributions are welcome and will allow us to directly assist as many Lone Soldiers as possible.
Thank you for your partnership and support and wishing good health to us all!
*Contributions raised beyond the actual cost of this endeavor will be put towards future activities and operations held by the LSC
