Urgent Call for Donations: Evacuation and Assistance for People with Disabilities and the Elderly Living Without Accessible Shelters/Safe Rooms in Missile-Attacked Cities
We Need Your Help!
Unfortunately, there is no end in sight to the war with Iran and Lebanon. Hundreds of communities are subjected daily to ongoing missile attacks, and the potential for a wider regional escalation feels closer than ever.
The current situation is unbearable for everyone, but it is especially severe for people with disabilities and the elderly in the north.
A staggering 36% of people with disabilities are living under fire without access to shelters, without accessible protection, and without the ability to reach a safe place during sirens and missile attacks. The government does not provide funding or evacuation assistance for most residents in the north. Many cannot afford to evacuate and lack family support, leaving them trapped in their homes—unprotected, terrified with every siren, and praying the missiles do not strike them.
Access Israel, in collaboration, is stepping in where the government cannot provide a solution. With the help of donations, we evacuate families (when needed using accessible vehicles equipped with wheelchair lifts) to quieter areas of the country—for several days or, in certain cases, for longer periods.
Since October 7th, we have been operating the “Purple Vest” project, entirely dedicated to assisting people with disabilities and the elderly during emergencies and war. As part of this initiative, we carry out a range of life-saving activities, including:
- Locating and evacuating people with disabilities and the elderly from danger zones to protected and accessible locations
- Operating an accessible emergency hotline to receive evacuation requests and provide assistance
- Training volunteers in accessible rescue for people with disabilities during emergencies
- Providing vital information to support proper emergency preparedness for people with all types of disabilities
Your donations—big or small—are essential for us to continue these life-saving activities.
100% of all contributions go directly to those most in need.
Thank you for your generous support during these challenging times. 🙏
