In honor of his Bar Mitzvah, Owen is raising money to create a welfare and educational intervention for at risk youth in the Hatikva neighborhood, one of the toughest neighborhoods in Tel Aviv, and in Israel in general. Because organized sports have had such a powerful and positive impact on his life, Owen would like to offer the same opportunities for other children.
In the Hatikvah neighborhood, there is a community center where children from low socio-economic families attend after school. There are a number of middle school boys that need clothing and supplies in order to participate in organized sports leagues (e.g. basketball uniforms and basketballs). Additionally, these children need assistance with their homework and studies.
Owen would like to raise money to support their athletic endeavors as well as their schooling, motivating and reinforcing the children to study, and showing that achievement in learning will lead to achievement in sports and other areas of life.
Your donation will benefit these at risk youth by helping them break away from a risky environment, violence, and poor education, and empower them to channel their energies into productive activities.
