Inspired By A True Hero
The Lone Soldier Center in Memory of Michael Levin is named in honor of a young man who made the ultimate sacrifice for his faith and the State of Israel.
In 2002, Michael left his home near Philadelphia to immigrate to Israel and join the IDF. Four years later, he was home on leave visiting his family, while tensions rose and war broke out on the northern border. Michael immediately returned to join his unit, the Paratroopers Battalion 890, in Lebanon.
Michael fell in battle within 24 hours of returning to Israel and was laid to rest at the Mount Herzl Military Cemetery in Jerusalem.
For Lone Soldiers By Lone Soldiers
Our mission is to support the brave young men and women serving as Lone Soldiers in the IDF.
In 2009, the Lone Soldier Center in Memory of Michael Levin was founded by former Lone Soldiers to support those serving today. They were inspired by Michael’s dream of building a center in Israel to address the needs of Lone Soldiers.
Today we are making his dream a reality. With centers in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv; the Center provides Lone Soldiers with meals, support, advice, housing and the family and community they are missing. The Center is the only organization in Israel that is dedicated solely to the needs of all Lone Soldiers on a full-time basis.
The Center supports thousands of the 7,000 Lone Soldiers annually, from 60 countries around the world. The Center’s staff and hundreds of volunteers work tirelessly to build this family and provide for the basic off-base needs of Lone Soldiers. We do this to ensure they will be included, supported and successful in adjusting to life in Israel.
We look forward to your support in allowing us to continue in our mission!
