During the war in Israel's South, children were exposed to particularly harsh sights as death knocked on their door.

The sounds of gunfire, confinement in bomb shelters for hours on end, the sight of dead bodies strewn in the streets, pictures of the abductees, screams of their friends who died before their eyes – all these and more combined to create severe trauma that, if left untreated, will develop into a dangerous post-trauma that can accompany the child for many years.

Bayit Cham is one of Israel's leading mental health organizations, that for the past 25 years has pioneered treatment and rehabilitation programs for people with mental health issues and various disabilities. In response to the current national crisis, it has established a fund to provide free treatment for 1,000 children from the Gaza Belt and the battle zones.

Each child will receive at least 12 therapy sessions provided by psychologists and clinical social workers, as well as psychiatric treatment when necessary.
