In a country like Israel the phrase “If you see something, say something” is strongly integrated into society, so why are we choosing to turn a blind eye to thousands of women in need?
The average woman menstruates 1,800 days in her life. Hygenie will provide sanitary products for women who are unable to afford them and find themselves in unhealthy and uncomfortable predicaments. As many as 1 in 10 women miss school because of insufficient resources in order to manage their periods, affecting their future progress and education.
Many women struggle during this time of the month and being on the street makes it that much more difficult. At Hygenie we believe that no woman should find herself short of sanitary products reverting to rummaging for scraps, sacrificing her dignity and health.
Our goal is to empower women by making these products accessible and normalized. We intend to break the stigmas regarding menstruation and make packages for homeless women, giving a solution to a problem that shouldn't have occurred in the first place. All it takes is a small donation to make a big difference.
