Ohad (Young) Kidron, age 50 years old, born and raised at kibbutz Ha\\\\\\\\'ogen, Israel, went on a few months trip to Nepal on September 2021 and is missing ever since.
Ohad loves hiking, nature, and enjoys exploring different cultures and locations. He has experience in hiking long trails in both remote and populated treks all over the world.
Throughout his many journeys, Ohad always kept in touch with his family in Israel and loved sharing his experiences and photos of the places he visited.
On September 21st, 2021 he started the Manaslu Circuit trek and was planning to continue to the Annapurna Circuit afterwards. It was the last time he was in contact with his family. From testimonies of other hikers and local guides, as well as records of registration at check points along the route, we know with certainty that he was last seen at a check point in Phillim, about three days into the trek.
During the last 9 months his family and friends went to great length to find him, and involved several authorities and local services to try and gather more information, such as:
- Israeli State Department and the Israeli ambassador to Nepal
- Israeli and Nepali Police
- Chabad House in Kathmandu, which helped with raising awareness to his disappearance and sent hikers to walk the trek and look for information
- Two Local search parties of Nepali guides who gathered information from check points along the trek, posted Missing Person signs and asked about him in restaurants and guesthouses.
We also found and contacted people who were hiking the trail around the time Ohad was there, talked with anyone who was in touch with him before and during his time on the trail, and much more.
The next step for us is to send a professional search team with expertise in locating missing persons to Nepal in hopes of finding more information about Ohad\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s whereabouts or what happened to him.
After reviewing a number of options, we chose to use Rescue1, an Israeli company specializing in operations of search and rescue around the world.
In order to use their services, we would need to raise the amount of NIS 300,000.
We are raising money in several ways, therefor we will reduce the amount needed from time to time, accordingly.
