Who we are?

Gilboa Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization in Israel that rescues abandoned and injured dogs, provides them with medical treatment, spaying, and neutering, and finds them happy loving homes. You may visit our website to learn more about our organization: www.gilboadogs.org.

Why now?

Nelson, before and after

For more than 15 years our volunteers have been rescuing and taking care of these poor dogs. In the last 15 years we have been able to rescue thousands of dogs. Some of them were used as fight dogs, or illegal breeding females, and were kept in terrible conditions. Until 2021, we never faced the case where we cannot afford to rescue more dogs. However, this is the case right now.

2021 has been especially hard for us for two reasons: while donations went down significantly due to the financial situation and the Coronavirus, the number of dogs we had to rescue increased even more significantly. Our volunteers worked non-stop. Another factor has been the decline in adoption. Less dogs are being adopted, and dogs are staying longer with us.

What we do with the funds?

Dror, before and after

Our goal is to rescue stray dogs in distress, as well as to spay and neuter dogs in order to reduce the number of stray dogs in Israel. Every dog we rescue undergoes spaying and receives necessary vaccinations to prevent infectious diseases. We provide them with first-aid medical treatment and in many cases, further life-saving medical procedures are necessary. The dogs live in our shelter, sometimes for many years, until we find them suitable loving homes. Running the shleter has its own costs, for example for food, medications, and maintenece.

Every dog we rescue imposes a great financial risk, as we do not know for how long they will be with us before finding a home, and what medical treatments they will need. Our moto has been "not giving up on any dog".

Nelson is one such example. As a puppy, he was found abandoned, with a gun shot wound. We rescued him and provided him with medical care. He underwent multiple surgeries and we were able to cover the costs for all of these expensive treatments (over $15,000 in total). After a very long recovery process, Nelson found a home and grew up to be a handsome cute dog who loves every living creature around him.

Dror was used as a fight dog. He lived life of cruelty, until he was too old to fight, so his owners dumped him, injured and sick. Our rescue team provided him with initial medical care and took him to a veterinary hospital. He found a home after a few months and was found to be as cute as a little puppy, despite his past as a fight dog.

We constantly rescue female dogs that are illegally kept for breeding, in most cases along with some newborn puppies that were not sold yet. We spay and neuter all the dogs we rescue. The cost of each spaying procedure is about $200.

These are just a few examples for the dogs we have been rescuing. You may visit our website to learn more about our work and our rescue team.

We need your help NOW to continue our work. Any donation matters.

Campaign Goals:

Our campaign has tiered goals and we hope you could help us achieve at least the first one:

$20,000 - Would set us back on our feet and enable us to continue our daily rescue operations, at least temporarilly.

$50,000 - Would let us continue targeted spaying and neutering operations on dogs rescued from illegal breeding farms (usually poor mothers and their many puppies)

$100,000 - Would bring us to our stable financial situation of about two years ago, where we were able to operate fully.

We sincerely thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kind and generous donation!

* A note about the rewards in this campaign: All the "rewards" listed on this page are rather a dedication of your donation to a specific cause, and you will not receive any physical reward for your donation. We hope that you understand that your entire donation amount is highly valuable for our efforts to save these dogs lives, and that we currently cannot provide physical gifts in return. Any funds raised in excess of those required for the selected cause will be used as an unrestricted donation towards our efforts helping the abandoned and abused dogs in Israel.

** If you choose one of the dog sponsorship rewards, our team will get in touch with you within a few days to select the dog of your choice and provide you with an official certificate, as well as with quarterly updates on the sponsored dog. You can meanwhile browse our dogs in our website.
