My name is Keren Mintz Malchi (PhD). I am a clinical social worker and a certified marital and family therapist and supervisor.
This week (October 18), I opened a Marital and Family Therapy trauma-focused unit within the Multi-Disciplinary Clinic for the Treatment of Sexual Trauma at Lev-Hasharon Medical Center for Mental Health. A true contribution to Israeli society, and for those suffering from the devastating effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as a result of rape, childhood abuse, and wars, to name a few.
This is a unique project- today, such specialized services – for families of those suffering from PTSD- do not exist in Israel. We suffer from lack of government funding... In Israel, only 5% of Mental Health funds go to community based outpatient clinics.
COVID has brought a rise in domestic violence, and marital and family challenges, as well as greater suffering for PTSD survivors. But even before, trauma survivors deal with many challenges within their homes.
The clinic holds the vision to serve as a cutting-edge national treatment center combining leading clinical experience and research data in the treatment of the psychological effects of sexual abuse, on the individual, couples and family level, bridging current service gaps.
Your donation will help fund equipment for family therapy (toys, furniture), medical equipment for the sex clinic, staff hours, supervision for staff and trainings.
