Who Are We?
AlManarah is a grassroots organization based in Nazareth, Israel that seeks to
empowers Arabs Persons with Disabilities.
Library History
The aim of the library
is to provide information and literature that would not normally be available
to everyone. In doing so, Persons with Disabilities are able to participate and
contribute to society as equal citizens.
In 2014, AlManarah's
International Library greatly expanded by 333%, receiving on
average 21,646 hits on its website each month! As of 2016, our
library continues to expand greatly, and we hope to continue growth through
this initiative. We hope to offer the AlManarah to all Persons with Disabilities
in the Arab world.
Our Goal
- $30,000 USD to cover
the costs associated with recording 100 additional books for AlManarah's
library (Average cost is $300 per book). Specifically, with the Holiday
season coming up, we want to record books that are classics for all the
populations/religions in Israel: Jews, Arabs and Christians, bringing everyone
together.
- Money will be used
to purchase books, commission voice overs, use recording studio, and edit
materials.
- Even if we don't
reach our goal, we'll put the money we do raise toward recording as many
children's books as possible for addition to our library
The Impact
Arabic materials for
print-disabled children are severely lacking; your contribution to the
AlManarah Library Initiative would help close this gap and provide
badly-needed resources for other under-served communities.
