Uri Bar-Or (2002-2024), the eldest son of Noa and Kobi Bar-Or, was a combat soldier in the Nahal Brigade, IDF. He was killed in Rafah during the Swords of Iron war, at the age of 21. Uri was drawn to music from an early age, and in high school he was recognized as a gifted composer.
During the war, Uri fought in Gaza as part of a strike team and was exceptionally admired by his commanders. Yet even at the roar of battle, Uri remained a creative artist. While fighting, he found moments of calm to teach his fellow soldiers musical notes. Yet more than anything, Uri was an educator. It was important to him to guide the children and youth of his community, and he always cared deeply for everyone he met.
To carry on his melodies and his unique story, Uri’s Observatory was established—a place that blends the quiet of the desert with reflection and music. Uri’s Observatory, on the cliff overlooking Nahal Tzin, holds within it deep thoughts and immense creativity
