Israel has a huge stray cat population, and it broke my heart to see that most kittens born on the streets died from starvation, viruses, and dangers. I have trapped, spayed, and released over 900 Old City stray cats, preventing thousands of litters from suffering and dying. Spaying also slows down the cats’ need for many calories, so it’s easier for them to survive. I rescue an average of 40 – 50 kittens per year. Each one gets medical attention by my amazing vet, and is later homed. Adult injured or sick cats are also brought for treatment. Lastly, I have many feeding spots for about 50 cats. Here in the Old City, I am the only person, among 35,000, who does this rescue work. It has become a full-time job, requiring donations for surgeries, blood tests, food, and medicines
