Once again, Israel is attacking residential neighborhoods and killing civilians in Gaza. Gaza's two million besieged residents face yet another deterioration in the already-unimaginable conditions they live in: hundreds of patients are barred from leaving to access lifesaving treatment. Yet more destruction of infrastructure and homes. Here we are again, so soon after the August 2022 assault on Gaza. We must do something to help.
As is always the case during these difficult times, we are receiving requests for urgent assistance from the Gazan health system, including long lists of medication and medical equipment that are in critical shortage. We are doing all we can to meet these needs and plan to arrange urgent equipment and medication deliveries. Join our efforts by making a designated donation for humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Killing civilians is not "collateral damage" – it is a conscious decision, a predetermined scenario resulting from decades of dehumanization, and a deliberate policy that views the lives of Palestinians as meaningless. Over two million people live in the Gaza Strip, more than one-third of whom are children under the age of 14. These are not military targets; they are not "collateral damage"; they are human beings, each one of whom is a world unto themselves. In "routine" times, all public services in Gaza, especially the healthcare system, are on the brink of collapse under the burden of Israel's blockade and the demand to provide services to a large population. These issues only worsen with every round of fighting.
During our "normal" day-to-day, our work is dedicated to fighting the ongoing blockade, trying to get patients out of Gaza for treatment, and assisting the healthcare system, which is in constant crisis. Our activity also includes medical delegations to Gaza every few weeks, during which we conduct surgical operations alongside Gazan medical teams, organize Mobile Clinic days with hundreds of patient visits, and conduct training for Gazan medical teams. Our next delegation is planned for one week from now exactly, and we hope we will be able to enter Gaza as planned.
Now, we face an urgent need to respond to the requests for assistance from the Gazan healthcare system by providing humanitarian aid.
As always, anything we do will be a drop in the ocean. But in the face of such suffering, we must help where we can. Help us do everything in our power for the Gazan healthcare system. Support our humanitarian aid deliveries to the Strip.
