Thank you for your interest in the Come True scholarships campaign! Each donation in this campaign will be matched by the Shapiro Foundation, so that your donation is actually worth twice it's value!
Please note that the default option for this campaign is a monthly recurring donation. However there are options for yearly donations and one time donations as well. Any donation is a great help, and all donations will be matched!
The Come True project cares for the education and wellbeing of South Sudanese children deported from Israel, by supporting their education in Ugandan boarding schools.
The project was established in mid 2012, immediately following the deportation from Israel of the South Sudanese community, and now supports over 200 Hebrew speaking South Sudanese refugee students.
The project has dozens of graduates who completed their high school education. Some of them also did vocational training, and are now working or have started businesses in their professional field. Some of the project's graduates are studying in univesities in Kenya, Uganda and Israel. This coming year at least 12 of the project's graduates will start their academic degrees, joining our 6 existing university students.
This education and the comprehensive toolkit provided by the Come True project, allows the Come True graduates to build a better future for themselves, and will have a positive impact on their families and their community. Our graduates are the future leaders of South Sudan.
We invite you to join us and be a sponsor of a child who was once a refugee in Israel and was deported to a place of war, violence, famine and poverty. Your donation will enable them to get education, which is the key to social mobility and a chance of getting out of the refugee cycle, and will protect them from the dangers lurking for their peers who are out of school, which are mainly early marriage for girls and being forcefully recruited as child soldiers for boys.
A full scholarship for a child at Come True is $1,600 annually ($135 monthly). Any monthly donation starting from $25 will be directed toward a scholarship for a child in the program.
The organization has only one paid employee - our Uganda country director, himself a refugee from Darfur. All sums donated go directly to saving a child's life! Join us now!
