No Holocaust survivor should have to live in poverty in Israel. And yet so many do, forgotten by the authorities that are supposed to be helping them. The question for us now is – what are we going to do about it?
IsraelGives, Israel’s main website for giving, is offering you a chance to provide immediate assistance to Holocaust survivors in need. Through our Adopt a Holocaust Survivor campaign, we’ve collected a list of survivors who need immediate help, like Ina, 77, who lives alone in a small apartment in Lod. Ina’s only daughter lives in Russia, and Ina, fragile and in poor health, leaves her apartment only with great difficulty, and is barely able to make ends meet with her meager government pension.
Through this campaign, your donations will go immediately to helping survivors like Ina. With your support, we’ll give Ina a ₪500 food card every month, and our amazing volunteers will come to her house every month to help her make the trip. Survivors like Ziva, 85, have different needs: the apartment that she lives in is old, and her bathroom is mouldy and broken-down. We’re going to come to Ziva’s house and renovate her bathroom, like we’ve done for dozens of other survivors.
Since last year, the Adopt a Holocaust Survivor campaign has helped to change the lives of hundreds of survivors. Adopt a Survivor today and make a difference!
