Matanot LeEvyonim: Monetary Gifts to the needy for Purim 2025

Yiboneh has been providing monetary gifts to the most needy for years and has become a trusted household name in Jerusalem.  Help us reach our goal by helping those relying on Yiboneh this year at this special time of year. They are counting on you.

We deliver your gift with dignity on the day of Purim itself directly to the recipient. This year (5785) in Jerusalem is a very special year - described as PURIM MESHULASH, when Shushan Purim (Adar 15) falls on the Sabbath, the holiday is celebrated over a period of three days. The megilla reading and distribution of charity takes place on the Friday (Adar 14), which day is called Purim dePrazos, therefore the same day for distributing this charitable gift in Jerusalem is as the rest of the world.

The donor remains anonymous and the hearts of those in need are gladdened on this special day.

The Rambam writes: It is better to give more gifts to the poor than to (spend more) on one’s Purim seuda or on sending gifts to one’s friends, for there is no great and glorious joy like the joy of gladdening the hearts of poor people, widows, and orphans… One who gladdens the hearts of these unfortunate people is comparable to the Divine presence. We see from this Rambam that the primary concern one must have on Purim is to create simcha among those who are less fortunate.
