Emergency Repair-Mobile for Holocaust Survivors!
Thousands of Holocaust survivors and other elderly individuals are struggling more than ever during this time. The strain of social distancing creates unbearable loneliness but also leads to practical difficulties and helplessness.
What do individuals do when something essential breaks in the home and they can’t afford to bring in a repairman?
- A woman who fell and broke her hip due to broken floor tiles in her home.
- A man whose water heater broke and used wet wipes to stay clean.
- An elderly couple, both Holocaust survivors, whose main electric box caught fire and were left without electricity.
Tenufa Bakehila is currently operating as first responders for urgent home repairs. Our hotline has been ringing off the hook.
Our Emergency Repair-Mobile is allowing us to respond to each call in a matter of hours. To keep up with the terrible need and provide immediate assistance for the most extreme cases in the coming months, Tenufa Bakehila currently is raising 200,000 NIS for operating an additional Repair-Mobile.
We must make sure every Holocaust survivor and elderly individual live safely and with dignity.
