Dear Family and Friends (you know who you are), This year, I plan to take part in my third Tsad Kadima Hike for Hope. But I need your help. For me, Tsad Kadima combines two major goals. The first is to help Tsad Kadima (A Step Forward), the Association for Conductive Education in Israel, which serves children and adults with cerebral palsy and motor disabilities. This amazing non-profit organization was set up by a few parents of children with CP in Israel – among them, one of my hiking friends (which segues nicely into my second goal). After a chance viewing of a documentary that followed the journey of a British child with CP and his parents to the Peto Institute in Hungary, these parents took their own children to Hungary. After spending several years abroad, watching their children begin to grow and develop thanks to this unique, integrative approach, they decided to bring the Institute’s Conductive Education system to Israel. Tsad Kadima was established in 1987 and subsequently incorporated into Israel’s special education system, offering parents an alternative educational-rehabilitative approach for their children that, at the same time, was adapted to fit Israeli culture and mentality. Today, the organization’s programs span the State of Israel, including daycare centers, schools, and summer camps for infants, children, and adolescents, and day centers and training apartments that pave the way towards independent living in the community for adults. Tsad Kadima’s main goal is always to help each individual reach his or her maximum level of functionality and integrate into normative occupational, social, and cultural frameworks. The government of Israel funds approximately 75% of the organization’s budget and the remainder is funded by donations. This brings me to my second (and much more selfish) goal for joining Hike for Hope – to spend two days hiking with a wonderful group of people (one of them the father who started Tsad Kadima and whose brainchild this fundraising hike is) through some of the most beautiful vistas in northern Israel. The hike takes place in late March, after the winter (which will hopefully continue to be rainy) when the hillsides will be painted with the vibrant colors of wildflowers – G-d’s palette. In fact, if, instead of contributing to my campaign, you want to join us – that would be the best! So please – take a few minutes to look at the Tsad Kadima website (http://tsadkadima.org.il/en/homepage/who-we-are/) and help me reach my goal of raising at least NIS 2,500. Contributions are tax-deductible in Israel, the U.S., and the U.K. Thanks so much, Marlene

Hiking to Make a Difference!
Tuesday- Thursday , March 26-28, 2019
Hike for Hope is a unique project that began in 2004.
The hike supports Tsad Kadima, an award winning organization dedicated to the rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy.
There are over 300 kids, young adults and adults in regular daily programs throughout Israel, and the numbers continue to grow. You can find young people with cerebral palsy from Tsad Kadima who attend regular schools as well as universities, independent living apartments, and even in the Israeli army. Each year a different route is chosen, this year we will be hiking in the area of Central Galilee
Tsad Kadima (A Step Forward), the Association for Conductive Education in Israel, is an organization that works to educate and rehabilitate children and adults with cerebral palsy and motor disabilities.
