"Hello everyone, This year I decided to challenge myself quite seriously. I'm going to cross the Kinneret on behalf of Sadnat Shiluv."That's the boilerplate text that starts off this autocreated campaign.  The thing is, as you might know if you've been following my shenanigans this year, the Kinneret swimathon actually isn't the most challenging thing I've done or plan to do.But it *is* the only one I do as a fundraiser.  The rest of them are about me, my goals, my achievements, and about inspiring others to join me and create healthy lifestyles for themselves.  I never got the whole "sponsor me to run this race" thing, since usually the sponsorship doesn't affect the fact that the person is running. This one is different.  The Kinneret swim is a fundraiser for Sadnat Shiluv, a program in Gush Etzion for people with special needs.  They run a school for special ed, have a campus with occupational training services, a bakery and coffee shop, a petting zoo, a horse stable and more.  They also manage apartments where 40 Sadnat Shiluv residents live and are integrating into their communities. Each year, the funds that are raised through the Kinneret swimathon are allocated to a particular project. In previous years, thanks to the success of the Swimathon, the Sadna was able to build a bakery, a petting area, a training center and more. This year the money will go towards building a sports center for the students of the Sadna - a cause that I can connect with personally now. This is my third year participating.  In past years I've had the honor and the pleasure of meeting the organizers and the participants of the Sadna.  It's been an absolute inspiration, and I'm looking forward to it again this year.So if I've inspired you, if you've enjoyed reading my megillahs of facebook posts, or if you're a nice enough person to want to help the special needs community, please sponsor me to swim the Kinneret.  Thank you!PS - If you do sponsor me, I write your name on my swim cap for the swim ;-)

יSadnat Shiluv was established in order to promote the welfare of people with special needs and to teach them the skills needed to function in the general community. The Sadna began as a response to the children who were not able to find their place in the existing special-education arrangements. We seek to support them through all phases of their lives. To that end, we have an integrated kindergarten, a special education school and communal living. These are centered in Gvaot, which serves as a therapeutic and supportive community.
The annual Swim4 Sadna helps us raise money for our activities. This year we will be raising money for Our New sports Center.
