Dearest Friends and Family, I'm excited to share a cause dear to my heart with you - On February 23, 2018, I will be running the half marathon in Tel Aviv in support of the Lone Soldier Center in Memory of Michael Levin, an organisation with which I have a long standing connection as a former lone soldier myself. I will be running this race in Michael's memory, in memory of all of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the State of Israel and the Jewish people and in honor of the 7,000 lone soldiers serving today in the IDF. The Lone Soldier Center helps thousands of lone soldiers every year - young men and women who leave their family and friends to serve in the IDF and protect the State of Israel and the Jewish people. The Center was founded by friends of Michael Levin z"l, a lone soldier from Philadelphia who fell in battle during the Second Lebanon War. Today the Center is proud to be making Michael's dream a reality, providing lone soldiers with "a home away from home", housing, guidance, counseling, a strong community, social events and Shabbat meals. At the Center's core are volunteers, former lone soldiers who work tirelessly to help lone soldiers thrive before, during and after their military service. I can tell you firsthand what an extraordinary place the Lone Soldier Center is. I was recently privileged to attend the opening of a housing facility for female lone soldiers in Jerusalem. From personal experience, I know that housing is a critical issue for Lone Soldiers and the provision of safe and affordable housing is one of the flagship projects of the Lone Soldier Center. Your support is vital to my success in this race and will make such a huge difference in the lives of these amazing young men and women and ensuring they can be successful in their mission. The Lone Soldier Center in Memory of Michael Levin was founded in 2009 by a group of former lone soldiers aware of and concerned with the needs and struggles of around 7,000 lone soldiers serving in the IDF. The Lone Soldier Center is the first and only organization solely dedicated to meeting all of the physical and social needs of lone soldiers.
