Dear Friends, Four years ago, a small band of idealists founded the Israeli NEABPD. About six months later, we launched with an international conference, and a few months after that we gave our first Family Connections course. During the last three years, I have co-facilitated almost twenty Family Connections groups, spent hundreds of hours peer-to-peer counseling, and spoken to thousands of clinicians and members of the public on behalf of the Israeli NEABPD. We have forged connections with other mental health organizations and we have spread from Jerusalem to the Mercaz and Haifa. This March I will be taking on an even more audacious challenge! Following my completion of the Family track last year, this year I will be walking the 5km track at the Jerusalem Marathon. Our loved ones, use every ounce of their energy to overcome their pain and to function to the best of their ability on a daily basis. How can we do any less? I challenge all our Family Connection Alums and our friends to walk with me or support me in my journey. Let's show the world that we can break the boundaries in support of Israeli BPD sufferers and their families!  Sincerely yours, Meshulam

Dear Runners and Friends,

As many of you know, the Israeli NEABPD (National Educational Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder) is fielding its third marathon team in this year’s Jerusalem Marathon, which will take place on March 20, 2020. Please join us in running or supporting one of our runners in the following tracks: Community (800 m), Family (1.7 km), 5 km race, 10 km race, Half-Marathon, Marathon.

Our organization was founded in 2016 by a dynamic group of family members and clinicians, who have personal experience with BPD and severe emotional dysregulation.

Through our website, peer-to-peer counseling, and public events, we not only provide information and skills to hundreds of members of the public yearly but also increase awareness and understanding among mental health professionals, working at the Hadassah Medical Center (Eating Disorders Clinic), Maccabi (Raanana), and Maane (Youth Development Division, Jerusalem Municipality), and attending professional conferences (The NEABPD Israel Conference in November 2016, The Israeli Society for Community Mental Health Conference in 2019).

For family members, we run the internationally renowned Family Connections program, which provides knowledge about the disorder and its treatment and teaches Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills. By helping family members “put on their oxygen masks first,” we empower them, helping them better understand and cope with the challenges they face, so that they can enhance the quality of their own lives and reduce their loved ones’ suffering.

During the last three years, we have run or are currently running sixteen Family Connection groups (each one running weekly for twelve weeks) in English and Hebrew, in the Mercaz, Jerusalem, and Haifa regions and spoken at many professional gatherings. With over 350 graduates, our groups for family members and seminars for mental health professionals have impacted directly on the lives of thousands of people.

By choosing to run for the NEABPD, Israel, or support our runners you will enable us to run more groups and seminars and create specialty programs. You will help us to expand beyond the center of the country and translate and disseminate more material in Hebrew so that both clinicians and the general public can be better trained and informed.

By registering with the NEABPD, Israel team on the Jerusalem Marathon website you will receive a 10% reduction for running: https://jerusalem-marathon.com/Register.aspx Please enter our code—neabpd—to join our team.

If you raise 750 NIS or more by running for our organization, we’ll also refund you your registration fee (between 100-300 NIS depending on the chosen track).

Once you have registered, please contact us and we will help you set up a personal webpage to attract sponsors.

For more information about us, please visit our website, www.neabpd.co.il, or contact us at Office@neabpd.co.il or 0523791720.

Yours sincerely,
Meshulam Gotlieb
