Alul and Deng were deported from Israel to South Sudan in the summer of 2012.
Alul, 14 when deported, is a lively girl, who loves hiking, drawing, learning and spending time with her friends. Before deported she was nominated to the school's parliament committee.
Deng, 11 when deported, is a happy and active child, who loves nature, soccer and playing hide and seek. Before deported he was active in the Green Group and the recycling initiative.
Alul and Deng's return to South Sudan, which they had never seen before, was traumatic. With no running water or electricity, malaria and typhois rule with poor and expensice medical services, with no public education system, high rates of unemployment and mortality, life in South Sudan were very different from those they had in Israel.
Alul became sick with malaria, and the children were bored out of school. I was anxious for their well being. When I heard of the project headed by Adv. Lea Miller-Forshtat and Dr. Rami Gudovich aiming to send the South Sudanese children deported from Israel to a boarding school in Uganda, I knew this solution was right for Alul and Deng.
With the help of children, parents, grandparents, staff members and friends we managed to fund the children's first year at school.
Join us to help them continue their schooling for years to come.
Education is the key out of the vicious circle of ignorance, poverty, violence and despair. Your donations will help these children complete their education, and perhaps be able to change their country when they grow up.
